It is a pleasure to inform that IAMD is opening a specialized physiotherapy centre in Chandigarh. It is a full fledged center with all the modern facilities, spanned across two rooms. We are sure this will not only benefit the local people, living with muscular Dystrophies,but the whole region.

22ND NATIONAL MDICAL AWARENESS CAMP AT JODHPUR RAJASTHAN

Indian Association of muscular dystrophy (IAMD) organized a Medical Awareness camp at Jodhpur, 132 from all over the region attended.

IAMD stands for those, who are living with Muscular Dystrophy (MD). An organization which aims to bring about some change in the overall development of persons living with neuro muscular disorders, and to guide them to live with dignity in the society and be self reliant. We associate with other National and International Organizations to update our knowledge and to provide best possible help to the individuals, and also to bring about policy changes.

IAMD organized 22nd National Medical awareness camp on 13th & 14th April 2009 in Fun world Jodhpur, The camp was focused on providing latest research updates, and medical awareness. In addition, we had sessions of physiotherapy, genetic counseling, and psychological counseling for the afflicts, parents, attendants/volunteers. A session for awareness of acts, such as PD act and NT Act was organized.DNA testing to give correct diagnosis was arranged by CCMB Hyderabad. Amongst the resource persons we had Dr. Sumit Singh, (previously at AIIMS and now at Medanta the Medicity Gurgaon), Mr. Karunakar CCMB Hyderabad,Mr. Pankaj Sinha HRLN,Mr. Lalit Shivnani’s team of Doctors and physiotherapists,Sh. Kulbhushan Vairathi for Yoga and Pranayam session.

Other than this a variety entertainment programme was organized such as Judugar, fun-games, dance masti, and ‘Kalbelia’ a traditional folk of Rajasthan.

Distinguished guests were HH Raja Gaj Singh, Maharaja of Jodhpur and Ms. Chandresh Kumari, Member of Parliament Jodhpur.
